New Ultra-Low Cost Airline Begins Service in February - 2/1/2015 -

welcome Allegiant Air this month! On February 4, 2015, Allegiant Air will start non-stop service to four destinations. These non-stop destinations are: Cincinnati, Ohio (CVG); Columbus, Ohio (LCK);Indianapolis, Indiana (IND); and Orlando-Sanford, Florida (SFB).  Allegiant Air will be operating out of Concourse C and will offer non-stop service twice weekly to each destination.

Allegiant Air is an ultra-low cost airline owned by Allegiant Travel Co. that operates scheduled and charter service from America’s favorite small cities to world-class destinations like New Orleans. Allegiant was founded in 1997 and has been named one of America’s 100 Best Small Companies by Forbes Magazine for five consecutive years. The company operates ultra-low cost, high-efficiency, all-jet passenger aircraft.

Allegiant brings with it a unique travel option to the New Orleans community. Focusing on ultra-low cost leisure travel, the company provides customers with ultra-low base fares averaging nearly half of the cost of the average domestic round-trip fare. The innovative business model has allowed the company to grow from one aircraft and one route just over a decade ago, to offering access to convenient, affordable service in over 90 communities nationwide.

In the next few months, our community will have more travel options with the additional air service. In March, Southwest Airlines will begin non-stop service to San Antonio with one weekly departure that will grow to daily service by April. Our international service will also be expanding in 2015. Delta Air Lines will begin non-stop service on March 7th to Cancun with once weekly Saturday departures. In addition, Vacation Express will add once weekly nonstop to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic on Thursdays.
