New Orleans Aviation Board Awards Construction Manager at Risk Contract to
Hunt Gibbs Boh Metro Joint Venture

NEW ORLEANS – During the August 21, 2014 meeting of the New Orleans Aviation Board, the Board accepted the recommendation of the Review Committee and awarded the Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) Services contract for the North Terminal Airport Project to the Hunt Gibbs Boh Metro Joint Venture team.

A nine-member Review Committee met in a public meeting on August 7, 2014 to evaluate the proposals received from Hunt Gibbs Boh Metro Joint Venture and NOLA Airport Builders Joint Venture in response to the public solicitation for CMAR services for the North Terminal Project. The Review Committee evaluated and scored each proposal resulting in a score of 787 to 822, with Hunt Gibbs Boh Metro receiving the highest overall score. The Review Committee’s recommendation was unanimously approved by the Board.

The selected CMAR will provide pre-construction services during the design phase. The CMAR also will have oversight and responsibility for completing construction of the North Terminal Project by 2018. The North Terminal Project includes a new world-class 650,000-square-foot terminal complex featuring two concourses with 30 gates, a consolidated checkpoint, seamless connections between concourses and 2,000 space parking garage.

"The Aviation Board is commended for its commitment to a fair and open process in the selection of the Construction Manager at Risk,” said Mayor Mitch Landrieu. "It is our shared goal that this city and region have a new, world-class airport built on time, on budget and with public confidence in the overall process. With this transformational project, we have an opportunity for the people of New Orleans to rebuild New Orleans.”

"The selection process was thoughtful and equitable and we thank each member of the Review Committee for the time and attention put into this difficult selection. We believe the decision of the Review Committee was sound and in the best interest of the community and the region,” said Cheryl Teamer, Chairwoman for the New Orleans Aviation Board. "We look forward to having the Hunt Gibbs Boh Metro Joint Venture on the team.”

"The Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport is a critical asset for the city, the region and state,” said New Orleans Councilman Jared Brossett, Chair of the Transportation and Aviation Committee. "The Airport Project is expected to generate a $1.7 billion economic impact from its construction, with over 13,000 construction jobs for our residents.”

"We are committed to bringing a world class airport the community deserves,” said Director of Aviation Iftikhar Ahmad. "One of the benefits of having a Construction Manager at Risk is that they are involved during the design process. The Construction Manager at Risk reviews the design documents and provides valuable input based on their expertise in constructability, sequencing and scheduling, all prior to construction.”
