British Airways Brings Non-Stop Service between New Orleans and London

NEW ORLEANS – Today, British Airways officially began non-stop, year round flights between New Orleans and London. This flight is another example of the growth at the Louis Armstrong International Airport and is a game-changing development for our economy and culture. The new international flight departs four times per week from Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) to London Heathrow (LHR). From London Heathrow, British Airways’ passengers can connect seamlessly to over 130 destinations in Europe and beyond. Starting on October 30, 2017, the service will increase from four to five times a week, operating on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Flights can be booked on Right now, British Airways is offering roundtrip fares as low as $899, including all taxes, fees, and charges. Tickets need to be booked by April 16, 2017. Seats at the promotional price are available for select travel dates between June 7 and September 18, 2017, as well as between October 2 and December 13, 2017.

British Airways will be operating a Boeing 787-800 Dreamliner, one of the newest aircrafts in their fleet. Each of the Dreamliner’s 214 seats is equipped with widescreen TVs, an entertainment system capable of connecting with passengers’ devices, and an in-seat chat system for talking to family or friends on the flight. The aircraft is divided into three cabins with 154 seats in World Traveller (economy), 25 seats in World Traveller Plus (premium economy), and 35 seats in Club World (business). Passengers can enjoy complimentary meals, beverages and a free checked bag.

The Louis Armstrong New Orleans Airport now provides service via 17 airlines to 58 non-stop destinations, including seven international destinations.

Lieutenant Governor of Louisiana Billy Nungesser said "This first landing of a British Airways direct flight from London to New Orleans is a clear signal to travelers worldwide that New Orleans and Louisiana continue to be great travel destinations. While the number of British travelers to Louisiana has seen a steady increase, it is expected to increase even more with the addition of this direct, year-round service. Our goal is to utilize this and other partnerships to see the number of international visitors to our state continue to rise as we market Louisiana as an exciting destination for international visitors to experience and explore.”

New Orleans Councilman Jared Brossett, Chair of the Transportation and Aviation Committee, said, "This flight will make access to New Orleans easier than ever before for international visitors. We expect this new flight to bring over 36,000 additional passengers to our region each year.”
