(NEW ORLEANS, LA) – The New
Orleans Aviation Board elected Ms. Cheryl Teamer as the Chair at its monthly
meeting today. Ms. Teamer is the first female Chair of the Aviation Board and
replaces outgoing Chair Nolan V. Rollins, who accepted a position as the
seventh President & CEO of the Los Angeles Affiliate of the National Urban
League after leading the Urban League of Greater New Orleans for the past five
Ms. Teamer, a New
Orleans native, was appointed by Mayor Mitchell J. Landrieu to the Aviation
Board on January 19, 2012. She is an attorney with more than twenty years of
experience and is the founder of Teamer Strategy Group, focusing on advocacy,
business development, event coordination, government relations, project
management and strategic planning.
Ms. Teamer is a strong
proponent of public service and is active in a variety of civic and charitable
organizations. She is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association,
and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Greater New Orleans
Foundation, The Young Audiences Charter School Association, and Second Harvest
Food Bank. Teamer has served on a variety of boards during her career,
including the Chamber of Commerce for New Orleans and the River Region, Audubon
Institute, Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus Foundation, Louisiana Cultural
Economy Foundation, Young Audiences of Louisiana, Congressional Black Caucus
Corporate Advisory Board, Ursuline Academy Alumnae Association, Louisiana
Mental Health Association, Louisiana Make A Wish Foundation and First Grace
Community Alliance. Ms. Teamer is an active member of the New Orleans Chapter
of the Links, Incorporated and a sustaining member of the Junior League of
Greater New Orleans.
Mr. Doug Thornton will
continue to serve as Vice-Chairman of the Board.
Members of the Aviation
Board are appointed to five (5) year terms and serve without
compensation. Officers are elected annually by their peers.
